A person can certainly accumulate a lot of clutter in five years. There was more. I had half finished when I took this picture.
So...winter's not too early to start spring cleaning, right? :D
20091227
Got some new manipulations. This time, one of my sister,
Danielle, and another one of the ever gorgeous
Rachel. Enjoy. I did, anyway. :D :)

Final Fantasy 6's "Fanfare" is excellent music to play when you feel kickass. I just rearranged my room and I feel kickass. If someone were to ask me right now (while watching me dance around like a loon), "How do you feel, Joshua?" I'd say, "Kickass!" Actually, I'd probably say, "Superb," because "Kickass!" really only sounds good in my head. :D
"The righteous eats to his own satisfaction, but the stomach of the wicked is in want. (Proverbs 13:25)" That's what I'm saying right now as I eat a bunch of these yummy, homemade chocolate chip cookies WITH MILK. HA hahahahaha. :D
20091221

Mmm. Made some tortillas, today. I found the recipe
here a while back, and I've used it exclusively to much success. I made 'em whole wheat (like the directions offer). I made twenty-four of them; eight were eaten at lunch. :)

Isaiah 50:10 AMP
Who is among you who [reverently] fears the Lord, who obeys the voice of His Servant, yet who walks in darkness and deep trouble and has no shining splendor [in his heart]? Let him rely on, trust in, and be confident in the name of the Lord, and let him lean upon and be supported by his God.
20091218
I like omelets. Yes, I've told you this before, but I like omelets. They are keen in getting rid of leftovers. The past couple days, I made honey roasted peanut and nacho cheese omelets (particularly tasty). Today, hamburger pie omelet. No reason to make them look pretty, either--it all looks like fried egg with stuff falling out of it. Genius! Some people makes pies. Joshua makes omelets. :P :D.
20091216
"If you ask me to pray for you and I am not complete in Christ, I may pray but it avails nothing; but if I am complete in Christ, my prayer prevails all the time. Prayer is only effective when there is completeness--'Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God.'"
Amen.

We used to have this pear tree in our front yard, in Missouri. And that tree produced, too. The pears were so heavy on that tree one year, that the limbs started breaking off. However, we never ate them; they just fell to the ground and rotted/were ate by 'possums and raccoons (and bugs, of course). They did find some use, though...
Waiting for the school bus one morning, my sister and I searched for yet another way to amuse ourselves. "Let's put them in the road and watch the bus run over them!" we thought. And we were pleased with the idea. We lined some up along a very conspicuous mark in the road that resembled where the bus had stopped so many times before. My sister was not yet satisfied. From the nearby dogwood tree, she pulled some berries and added eyes to our brave pears. Then, she found some twigs on the the ground and stuck them in their "mouths" (they were obviously "cool" pears). They had a certain expression to them that I tried to capture in the picture: the girl pear on the left, pretending to ignore the boy's alluring gaze on the right. Yes, we were quite proud of our setup.
Bus was coming. We stood a little further down the road than usual, of course. Flashy lights came on, alerting other cars that the bus was about to make a stop. We stopped breathing. The squeak of old breaks as the behemoth slowed down. Our eyes on the pears and the pears alone.
SP-SPLAT!
And we laughed. Hard.
20091211

I saw this and (likely given the number of fantasy games I've played) it reminded me of a helmet. Like something a dark warrior would wear, or something. What is it you ask? That, my friends, is a very interesting buttprint. Yes, buttprint. I sat down, still a little wet, after getting out of the shower. Imagination: use it wisely. :D Hahahaha. :)
20091210
I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
Hahahaha. I just beat Portal (Valve). I thought the computer voice was lame and lackluster throughout the whole game...until the game end song. Haha. The computer really shined there. :)
20091206
Nope. Not going to happen. Haha. We'll see about next year, whether I'm ready for the JLPT. :P :)
20091205
"The GARRULOUS person talks with wearisome persistence, usually about personal and trivial things."
Hahahaha. :)
20091204
It's amazing how intelligent some of the things I think seem to me in the morning...BEFORE I get out of bed. Hahahaha. :D
20091203
Stubble on the face looks alright, even handsome in a coarse sort of way. But stubble all over the body looks plain ridiculous. :D Hahahaha.
20091203
The first year (February 2005) I bought this site was the year that I wrote the most in my log: 21 kb of information. That year continued to be the largest...until today: 43 kb--more than double. Yay! It only took me three years! :D Since the conversation's still fresh, 2007 was my least (over six times less): 7 kb. That's actually an accomplishment of sorts, for me. Someone once told me, "WRITE!! o.0". Yeah...it took a year to sink in. :P :)
20091203
After ruining his first keyboard by spilling something on it for the third time, you figure he would stop eating at his desk.
Nope.
And after spilling something, yet again, on another keyboard, you figure he'd reconsider.
Nope.
I'm just glad my cereal was pretty sludgy because of the milk:cereal ratio. :D
20091202
"Try Josh's pancakes. They're the only pancakes I'll eat."
Says Danielle.
Yeah, that's a pretty good complement. :)

Isaiah 42:17-18 AMP
They shall be turned back, they shall be utterly put to shame, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, You are our gods. Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, that you may see!
Isaiah 43:10-11 AMP
Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior.
Isaiah 44:6 AMP
Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the First and I am the Last; besides Me there is no God.
Isaiah 45:18 AMP
I am the Lord, and there is no one else.
Isaiah 45:19 AMP
I, the Lord, speak righteousness (the truth--trustworthy, straightforward correspondence between deeds and words); I declare things that are right.
Isaiah 45:21-24 AMP
There is no other God besides Me, a rigidly and uncompromisingly just and righteous God and Savior; there is none besides Me. Look to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself, the word is gone out of My mouth in righteousness and shall not return, that unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear [allegiance]. Only in the Lord shall one say, I have righteousness (salvation and victory) and strength [to achieve]. To Him shall all come who were incensed against Him, and they shall be ashamed.
20091127
Psalms 115:4-8, 18 AMP
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
They have ears, but they hear not; noses have they, but they smell not;
They have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not; neither can they make a sound with their throats.
They who make idols are like them; so are all who trust in and lean on them.
But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forever. Praise the Lord!
20091127

This shirt has certainly seen better days.
20091125
And so I shaved.
My body.
Yes, everywhere but my head hair and my eye brows and lashes. And the hair in my ears and nostrils of course. :P To those that have gone before me, you probably realize how difficult it is to shave cleavage. Butt cleavage. Yes, like the majority of the Lord's hairy creatures, I had a hairy butt. And in spite of the popular idiom, hindsight is *not* always twenty-twenty. Nothing got nicked, though. :)
Man I look...boyish. I look naked without chest hair. I remember when I first started growing a few sprigs in my teenage years, I would shave them off, because they created a strangely dark focal point on my chest. An hour ago, however, my chest was covered. Yeah, shaving around nipples is a rather delicate matter, too, but I had no problem seeing them. :P
Man...I don't remember being so lightly pigmented, either.
My legs are also cooler when I run though the house.
Obviously, I haven't been hairless since I was a little kid. :D
20091125
Happy Birthday, 梁章龙! :D
20091124
Boy, did I have a bizarre dream last night (this morning). Actually, several of them. This one in particular though: I was watching a movie in which the star players were Wolverine (Marvel Comics) and some no-name cartoon bear in an exosuit. Bizarre. And, for whatever reason, it was HILARIOUS! And I laughed so hard. And I woke up. I didn't wake up laughing, but I woke up with a sore chest like I had been laughing that hard. So I smiled and went back to sleep. :)
20091122
Determinedly take no one seriously but God, and the first person you find you have to leave severely alone as being the greatest fraud you have ever known, is yourself.
Amen. Hehe. :)
20091120
Dude, I've really been sporting the pigtails recently. I think I might bring them back into men's fashion... Wait a sec, I think I hear my brother, *famous pigtail wearing dude*, calling for me.
20091119
Mmm. Just had some ice cream and I thought of you, Rachel. Mint Chocolate Chip. Hahahaha. I thought of how you told me that you don't like mint--but hey, I still thought of you. :P
20091118
Sweeeeeieieieiiiii. I made some amusing (to me)
pictuuuuuures. :D :P
20091116

Yes, that *is* a bag on my head.
20091116
To all my sisters--Rachel, Janna, Chara, Selina, Ruby...and whoever else... who are taking this upcoming examination (SPM)--the Lord bless you with an apt and ready mind. I pray that whatever you were diligent in studying may be easily available in your memory to recall and use. The Lord bless you. Praise the Lord.
20091114

I made some pretzels today and I saved one back for a dear friend of mine. Yes, I'll even mention her by name: the beautiful Rachel.:D Hey, Rachel, I put cinnamon and sugar on this one. :) You'll just have to enjoy it vicariously...this time. ;) :)
20091113

Here he is, still running around my room. Cute little feller. Jumped on me, today; I almost swatted him, thinking he was a fly, but I decided to look first. Haha. Hmm...gotta learn how to take better pictures.
20091109

It's an omelet! It's a bagel! It's an OOOOOOMMMMMMM BAGEL! :D :P
20091108
Psalms 149 AMP
"Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, praise Him in the assembly of His saints! Let Israel rejoice in Him, their Maker; let Zion's children triumph and be joyful in their King! Let them praise His name in chorus and choir and with the [single or group] dance; let them sing praises to Him with the tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation and adorn the wretched with victory. Let the saints be joyful in the glory and beauty [which God confers upon them]; let them sing for joy upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their throats and a two-edged sword in their hands, to wreak vengeance upon the nations and chastisement upon the peoples, to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute upon them the judgment written. He [the Lord] is the honor of all His saints. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)"
20091106
Psalms 97:7 AMP
"Let all those be put to shame who serve graven images, who boast in idols. Fall prostrate before Him, all you gods."
20091105
Psalms 94:23 AMP
"And He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out."
20091103
A warm autumn day. Clear blue sky. Cool breeze. The world will have to wait--it can be saved another day. Today, I'm going for a bike ride. :)
Left onto Till. Familiar road. Rode it many, many times. I still find the familiar lovely, though. Even when it smells like bovine dung. Which it did. But only for a hundred feet. One hundred feet of crap isn't too bad. Unless it's coming out of me/Unless it's coming out of me. Some construction was going on at a lady's house. It's her house--she owns it--but she's only there a couple times a year. Maybe something's changed. A dump truck waited for me pass. Courteous, I thought. Cars don't usually like to accommodate bikers. He also pulled out behind me. Guess he was a patient man. I decided to be courteous too, and gave the long left arm to let him know where I was turning. I stopped at the stop sign and waited for the intersecting Volkswagen to pass. He didn't. He turned right, without using his blinker. He was uncourteous.
Left onto Gramling. Another familiar road. This is the turn that I make sixty percent of the time. I go straight thirty percent. I've only went right, once, and that was with my mom. There's no trees on the right. I like trees. Straight has the most trees, but it's shorter; I wanted to ride longer, today (like most days). The dump truck went straight. I was glad, for a road is crowded with cars on it. This was the longest leg of my trip. The wind was also against me. I thought about how inefficiently the pedals on my bicycle were placed. Joshua the would-be practical. I thought about Missouri. This is the memory inducing road. It reminds me a lot of my considerable youth. Long stretches of farmland planted with various crops (Fallow, at the moment. They harvested corn last season, and have since twice disced under the stray shoots missed [actually, seeded] by the combines.). Long stretches of grazing land filled with cattle. A T. Hmm, decision time I thought.
Right onto Sleepy Hollow. I always go left. It's a nice path. I didn't feel like outrunning dogs this time, though. This also became a nice path. A sweet smell invited itself into my nostrils. Didn't remind me of anything--it was new. Next time I smell it, it will remind me of today, at that spot, that low, narrow, snaking road. Hard right. A couple guys were unloading a green van in front a quaint wooden home. I heard a lady in front of me, calling her dogs. I smiled and nodded at her. She smiled back. The dog barked. The dog didn't give chase. Which was good. I hate ruining good moods by giving wrath to arrogant dogs.
Left onto Whisperwood. Ah, I know where I am, I thought. I'd never been there before, but the road intersects Gramling. Wow, this is a nice road, I thought. Freshly paved, shiny gray asphalt. Clean, bright lines. My favorite: wide shoulder. My bike lane. Someone was being thoughtful. It also mildly sloped downhill, and the wind was behind me. And trees. And a pleasant woodsy smell. BEST leg of the trip. Shortest leg of the trip. I'll have to visit it, again. Maybe turn right onto it from Gramling.
Right onto Four Holes Road. I knew the road, though I'd never been on it. Passed a cute house on my right. A sign out front was entitled Butterfly Knoll. I passed an abandoned house on my right. I like to wonder about the houses that I pass. Who lived in them? Did they live pleasant lives? Did they have kids? Why is the house dilapidated? Joshua the constant questioner. I should pass a church. I passed a church. I didn't read the marquee out front. Oh well. Ah, a familiar road.
Right onto Till. Welcome to Four Holes Community Center, said a large sign. I looked to the right as I passed the place. The gate was actually open. A sign informed that voting was taking place. I don't know what for. I don't vote. Ah, my favorite part of Till Road, the speedy decent over the bridge. Trees cover it like a archway. The smell of the woods. I take my feet off the pedals and stretch them forwards. I fly.
I have this cute little jumping spider that's been wandering all over my desk for the past couple days. He's gold and black and white. Gold like the crayon, not the metal. He keeps moving his little mandibles...pedipalps around like some kind of boxer. I get closer and he turns his head up at me. I blow at him, gently, and he lowers his body to the desk. Jumping spiders are my favorite spiders.
Oh. Right. I made it back home and I wrote about it. It took me an hour and I rode around 10 miles. The End. :D
20091029
I reversed the arms on my chair, today, so that I could play my guitar while sitting on it. However, since I've been long accustomed (3+ years), to pushing myself off my chair using said arms, it's been a little weird (and humerous) getting up lately. :)
20091027
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it (Psalms 81:10 AMP).
20091024
Dude. This is the most web loggging I've done in a year, to date. Hahahaha. :D
20091023
October has been a pretty happening month. It's a happening month for Joshua when something happens. THREE things happened, so that's *pretty* happening. :P Hahaha. Parents came home, my sister had a surprise birthday party (and she was actually surprised), and my buddy (Matt) moved to Florida.

"Joshua, how do your boobs stay so perky?" I'd love to tell you. For just three easy payments of $19.95, this revolutionary knowledge could also be yours!

Emma, the pastors youngest daughter. C-UTE! :D

My buddy Jacques and I. Obviously the focus was on him. Or I was phase shifting.

And that would be the birthday girl in the corner. Yes, the one with the shortest hair. Hahahahaha.

After knowing the guy for around five years, I realized that I didn't have a single picture with him--so I got two! :P Hahaha.

The night he moved (that is, a couple hours ago). We, along with several of the church, were packing and loading their crap.
20091022
Psalms 75:2
"When the proper time has come, I will judge uprightly."
20091002
「閣下」. Hahaha. After seeing the pronunciation (かっか[kakka]), I immediately recalled the slang for feces. They don't quite correlate. :P
20091001
I feel like a baby. I find myself mumbling Japanese "sounding" words. I just caught myself saying 「ちょうだい」(choudai)--while washing the blender--and wondering if it even meant anything. EDICT give me a couple options, neither of which I've actually seen before:
長大 [ちょうだい] (adj-na,n) very long, great length, (P)
頂戴 [ちょうだい] (int,vs) (1) please do for me (preceded by -te), (2) reception, being given, get, (P)
It's like when I woke up from that dream with the word 「ふたま」(futama {二間 [ふたま] (n) two rooms}) in my head--another word I'd never witnessed before. Haha. Well, I believe it's evidence that I'm learning. Will this baby be ready by December? That's a good question. :P.
I just put a period after my tongue-face. Is that a zit? Hahaha.
20090930
Amazing. I learn something every time I read the Word; it doesn't matter if I've read the passage a dozen times. But now that I'm reading it in a completely different language (Japanese), it's really coming to life. Maybe because I have to read it really slowly and understand every word. It's worth it. I don't care if I never use Japanese for anything else, the joy I've already received from using it to read the Bible has been worth the effort in learning as much as I have. Praise the Lord!
In other news: Happy birthday, Matt. Big sixteen. You're about to leave this state of South Carolina. You're, arguably, my only friend here in Orangeburg, and I certainly enjoyed all the many hours of games we played together. I enjoyed our Sunday morning talks in the "tower". I enjoyed talking to someone that would listen and apply the good instruction that I gave him, someone that would search the Scriptures himself to see if what I was saying was actually true. I will miss you, my brother, but I'm glad to see you go. Surely the Lord has planned for you; trust in Him (Proverbs 3; Psalms 37). :)
20090924
Yay. I finished beefing up my contact page...for now. At least, I got the "to do" folder for it off of my desktop. Hahaha. :P I also put together a new entry in the video part of my projects page called "Scrapbook", AND I *FINALLY* fixed that corrupted flashy image (JoshAwe.gif). Nah, it's not that great of an image--funny enough for me--but the fact that I finally fixed something...three years old? Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good. :)
20090923
When biting off more than I can chew, I tend to let it sit in my mouth, bulging cheeks and all, while the saliva slowly dissolves enough of it to allow difficult mastication. I originally wrote "chewing" there, but I immediately thought of my friend Janna. That one's for you, Janna. :P Hahahaha. Taking in small quantities of food has never really been my thing (I also tend to gulp). I chew properly, but I just like to have more in my mouth when I do it. Sure, I could spit it out and start over, but I consider that even more impolite than my original configuration (and also a little defeatist). And while they look on, horrified (some, mouths agape), I subtly curl the sides of my lips (since smiling really isn't possible) and continue digestion. To this day, I don't remember an instance where I gave up such an attempt. Yes, this is a true fact of Joshua. Yes, it was figurative as well as literal. Yes, I have been playing too much Space Quest (I just beat the sixth one, finishing the series). In order not you keep you in suspense, this current mouthful of mine happens to be Japanese. I have two more months to acquire...arguably still years' worth of knowledge and apprehension in order to pass this December's test.
God willing... :)
20090921
~3 hours before bed (0000) I feel most awake and ready to learn; I do not know why. :P I usually feel pretty sharp around this time in the morning, but, recently, I've taken to running. And before that, I usually didn't get up that early. Still experimenting. :)
In other news... Happy birthday, Brian. :) As I told you, earlier, I didn't get your present finished. I know, first time in five years. Wah. :P
20090919
POS. POS. POSPOSPOS. POS! I just learned that was the abbreviation of "point of sale (売り場)", by the way. Why am I sharing this. Just being curious. :)
20090918
Best. Pancakes. Yet. And I made them. :D And I don't even like pancakes! --But I like these pancakes. 8) Praise the Lord.
20090915
I haven't studied this much in my life. Hahaha. :)
20090912
"[...] and often even love itself has to wait in pain and tears for the blessing of fuller communion. (http://www.myutmost.org/09/0912.html)"
Interesting passage.
20090907
The Lord has certainly blessed us with some beautiful days, recently. Bright, blue sky; lovely cool breeze; clear mornings; starry nights. After doing some flies, I decided to step outside and look straight up into the sky that I had been glancing at through the window--and glorify God. I sniffed the air. Haha--it smelled faintly of bacon bits. Seriously. :)
I watched a car drive by, red taillights disappearing around a curve. The driver's mind, I'm sure was on the road. He didn't have a clue. If he was wise, he was watching for deer; they're quite heavy out, recently. However, I was watching him. Funny, that. :P
20090906
It's amazing. When I train physically, I get tired. Sure, I can go longer than I used to, but I still get tired; it's inevitable. However, when I train myself in spiritual things--the Word of God--I only get more energized. There is no doubt that there is something immortal in a man, and Jesus Christ is its food. Praise the Lord!
20090902

It's fun going to Big!Lots. There's usually some miscellaneous item there that I've never seen before--especially the beverages (specifically, the teas). However, today, I found this: Hansen's Natural Green Tea Soda Pomegranate. Hmm. The kanji for Japan--it *must* be good. :P $2.50 for six 16 ounce cans. That's a reasonable price, regardless. It has an interesting (and likable) bitterness to it; I like the smell, too. Kind of reminds me of some funky wine my sister got, once. This stuff I actually like, though. On a scale of one to two, I'd rate it a two. :P Haha.
20090825
Man, does it feel good cleaning. Yeap, yeap. :D I'm deleting three flaky online accounts in three days, absorbing relevant information from them and applying it to this site (thereby helping to fill it out), and I even cleaned up my desktop. Yes, my desktop. Much nicer, now. Eighteen icons instead of...three times that much. :P :)
Haha. I put web logs from my old myspace profile into their relevant slots, here. :P Time traveling (disclaimer: Joshua does not actually believe in time travel). :D The entries are 20060729, 20070110, and 20080928 if you're interested. Of course, if you leave right now, you can the see limited edition versions before I delete my myspace profile. Weeee! :D
20090823
Today, my friend Matt and I played four games of MiniChess. As far as I know, I made it up. :P Same rules of regular chess, but smaller board and less pieces. Also, in the second through fourth games, the pawns weren't allowed to move two spaces on thier inital turn. It felt different, too--especially the latter three games. It felt...well, like a battle. :P This is how the first game was set up. It ended in a stalemate:

Second game was set up like this. I thought the extra row of pawns really filled it out nicely. Because of a silly move I made, it ALSO ended in a stalemate--to the delight of my friend, because his end was certain :D :

In the third game, I continued experimenting with different pieces. I figured I'd swap out a couple pawns for biships and rearrange the formation a little:

I won the third game. :) However, the bishops proved to be quite useless; neither of us moved them once. I figured the rooks would have been too powerful, or something. :P Oh well, we both agreed rooks would be better choices and set up the fourth game like this:

However, we had to go before we could finish this game. I made a rather dumb (series) of moves, and I do believe Matt had the upper hand, that time. Haha. I'm not a real chess fan, but it's fun to play, occasionally. :)
20090810
0616. Much earlier that I wanted to wake up (even though I had already woken up once, before this). A weird dream, in a series of weird dreams. However, this has nothing, directly, to do with that dream. :P Nope--after I used the bathroom and cleaned myself off, I was again laying in bed, thinking about being awake two hours earlier than I'd like, thinking about distractions in the bedroom. The plastic liner in my trashcan--*crinkle, crinkle*--that needs to go. :P Hehehe. I was also thinking about a bedroom without windows...
In middle school (10-14), my friend Derrick Wells had just such a room. We'd be in his room playing video games, playing with Legos, playing pen and paper games that we had created during school--and it was timeless. The time never changed. We usually only came out when we were hungry, and I'd be struck with the startling realization that the world was still turning. It was no longer the sunny afternoon after school, it was pitch black. :P Hahaha. Of course, the opposite also happen (albeit much less), that I'd come out, thinking I'd been in there for so long, and it was still quite sunny. :)
Funny, I always hated that aspect of his room. "I'm gonna punch a hole in that wall so I can see what time it is!" "Go, ahead", he'd say (sometimes ;P). That, coupled with the exceptionally smooth hinges on his bedroom door were the only "bad" memories I have of his house. :P
Currently, I spend a lot of time in my room--it's like my workshop: a couple computers and the things that go with them, keyboard, guitar...bamboo flute (I'm really not that accomplished of a musician--these things stack up in there because I get momentarily interested in them :P ), all my papers and pencils and books, a mortar and pestle, some kitchen knives, clay, a couple firearms--I have very little floor space. And my closet, though reasonably orderly, is packed full. Haha. And it's usually several degrees warmer in here than the rest of the house. And I was thinking, as I was laying in my bed, "I don't want all this in a bedroom". Not now, obviously, but whenever I have my own house. But a bedroom without windows? Nah. The plastic trash bag really needs to go, though. :P :)
20090807
The United States of America--the last bastion of the English system of measurement. Well...the American English system. :P I grew up learning and estimating with it--inches, feet, miles, pounds, cups, ounces...fluid ounces. Haha. Sure, in school, in science classes, we learned how to convert to metric units. However, it was really just an exercise. There was no startling realization that the rest of the world had already adopted it, no real reason to learn it. Sure, in college, the Metric system was standard...but when everything's already in metrics, all you have is math--I still never had to "think" in metrics. Now, given that half the people I talk to live in Malaysia, I find myself constantly pulling out my calculator so that I can "translate". Hahahaha. I'm not 5'9", I'm 175cm; not 160 lbs., but 73kg; I don't use three cups of flour, I use... Well, I'm still not too keen on that one. :P

Haha. I had a dream, last night. It was a real short one...it was in Japanese. However, I still did not understand what was said or written. And, when I woke up, for a few brief seconds, I realized that I had forgotten English. Crazy. Hahahahahaha. :D

Matthew 13:52
"He said to them, Therefore every teacher and interpreter of the Sacred Writings who has been instructed about and trained for the kingdom of heaven and has become a disciple is like a householder who brings forth out of his storehouse treasure that is new and old."

The year is 1992 (to '93 :P). Joshua Wright has just entered the second grade at the ripening age of seven years; dismayed yet again that his friend, James Wilkerson, was in the other class. Little did he know what new friend was in store for him.
:P In second grade, my best friend was Matthew Buck. I think his middle name was Lee...not sure, though. :) Then, again, I might be confusing it with my old friend, Matthew Lee Dockins. Then, *again*, maybe they're both Lee. Lalala... :)
We weren't best friends immediately. I didn't really like him at all, at first. We got in these little disputes quite often--especially in "music" class. Music was basically just the place where we sung a lot of songs and learned the names of difficult instruments like the cowbell and triangle. :D Hahaha. Jingle bells, too. They were everybody's favorite. :D A lot of little wooden chairs--made especially for little kids' little butts--littered the classroom. Somehow, Matt kept ending up next to me.
In elementary school, we had a lot of adverse weather drills--the big ones being fire, tornado, and earthquake; different bells signaled different impending disasters. During the fire drill, we'd all learn how to, in an orderly fashion, exit the building to a safe distance/location. During the tornado drill, we'd all huddle against the wall in the large hallway. During the *earthquake* drill--my favorite--we'd all huddle under our desks until it was over. :)
(Back in the music room.) That day, the Lord God knows why, during class, I got the sudden urge to relive that drill. Kneeling on the floor and putting my head underneath my chair (that's all I could get in there), I started shaking it and exclaiming, "EARTHQUAAAAAAKE!"--to my sheer delight. :) Matthew took up the game immediately. Picture this, the both of us, on the floor, shaking our chairs and shouting to high heaven, laughing hysterically. Hahahaha! :D
We got in some pretty good trouble, that day, with the music teacher (I don't remember her name...I think she was only there that year--I remember her having a short temper), and our second grade teacher, Mrs. Wolverton. However, he instantly and unshakably became my best friend until he moved away at the end of the school year. Funny, before that day, as we and the class were lined up in the hall, he said to me (along this line), "You know, Josh, we're good friends because, when we fight, we make up real quick afterward." Matt was quite a character. I suppose his words were fairly accurate, too. However, I do know that after that "earthquake" we never fought again. :)
I used to draw him a lot of Megaman pictures. I had only played Megaman 3 a couple times before at some other lady's (Joyce Fisk) house during a Bible study--so my knowledge of that particular universe was very slim. So I'd just make up bad guys as I went. He knew this, too, and his eyes would always get real big when I (unknown to me) drew an actual game character. He thought I was real clever, then. ;) :) I'd always see him reading Nintendo Power magazines on the other side of the class (where his assigned seat was), but I never got to read them (never wanted to).
Always interesting, to me, who the good Lord places in our lives (especially, the nice ones :) ).

I hate lies. I hate lies more than I hate screaming and telephones and car horns. I hate lies completely.

Happy birthday, mom! :D The Lord God Almighty bless you.

I made this (these) this morning. My sister bought some toasted nori for some reason. The stuff smells (and reminds me of) fishfood. Which, actually, I suppose it is. :P I rolled up some leftover rice and quinoa and some tuna in it. They were actually pretty good. I rolled 'em tiny, obviously; there's a quarter for comparison. :) Click it for the bigger picture. Heh.

Would you believe I've been diligent? Yes. Diligently learning Japanese. I hear there's a test coming this December and I plan to pass it. Yar.

Heh. I was cleaning off my desk, today. I went to put away a poem I had written and I grabbed the wrong folder. I found
these--some pictures a nice girl by the name of Amanda Richardson gave me. I didn't particularly like high school, but these were some of the better memeories. :)

Alright, new log page. Amended the silly copyright thing at the bottom, too. Do I really care if people steal (they'd either have to be desperate, or plain malicious) something from here? Well, honestly, yeah. Seriously, nobody likes a thief. Theives don't like theives. The real question, however, is would I ever try to vindicate myself in court? No. Never. Hebrews 10:34. The © does make it look all kind of professional though, doesn't it? I mean, with some arbitrary numbers and my name right beside it. Yowza.
Talked to my old, oldoldoldold friend Derrick Len Wells, yesterday. Yes, Derrick, if you ever make it by, you can see your name etched in...electricity. :D :P Dude, you REALLY sound like your dad, now. Hahaha.
